Community Outreach and Fundraising

Coming together as a community for help and support.

All kinds of ways to help each other.

Haddam-Killingworth Youth and Family Services invites everyone in the community to participate in programs throughout the year to help those in need and to raise funds to support our vital work.

Some programs help families in need at the start of the school year and during the holidays. One gives the community at large an easy way to safely dispose of prescription drugs. And there are several fun events, supported by generous sponsors, to help us raise the funds we need to provide our vital services.

Back to School Backpack Program

Essentials for Success

The Back to School Backpack Program serves Haddam Killingworth students who need assistance in acquiring the essential tools they need to learn. When students are prepared at the start of the school year, they are more likely to succeed.

This program saves parents and guardians between $40 to $100 for each school-age child, depending on their grade. Please join us in contributing and give all our students the best start to the school year.

DONATE
Pumpkin Run

FUNdraiser

This fun family event features a 5K run and two Fun Runs for kids, with costumes encouraged. This is our largest fundraiser. The course starts at Haddam-Killingworth High School, takes you on a beautiful country road, and finishes back on the high school track.

Holiday Giving Program

Making the Holidays Brighter

The Holiday Giving program helps families who do not have the means to provide the holiday gifts they would like for their children up to 18 years of age. Families sign up for the program and give a wish list of the items. They pick up the gifts before the holidays, along with tape, wrapping paper, and gift tags.

Please join us by contributing toys and gifts for the families in our community who so appreciate this help.

HK Craft Fair

HK Craft Fair

Held at Haddam-Killingworth Middle School, admission is free. The fair will also feature food trucks, a book fair for all ages, a raffle, and a scavenger hunt for kids.

2023 CRAFT FAIR

Stuff-a-Cruiser

This program also provides holiday toys and gifts to families in need. Please join us in this effort, and remember our teens as well as the young children when making your contributions.

Drug Take Back Day

This nationwide program was created to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible way for people to dispose of their prescription drugs. Its goal is to educate the general public about the potential for the abuse of prescription medications. In the spring and fall, we work alongside Connecticut State Troopers to provide this program at Nutmeg Pharmacy in Haddam and Killingworth Family Pharmacy in Killingworth.

Giving Tuesday

This is an opportunity for us all to take stock of what really matters in our lives. We are all thankful for our HK community. On Giving Tuesday before Thanksgiving, we invite everyone to make donations on our website to help fund the programs and services that support so many throughout our community. Thank you for your continued support.
