May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to recognize the importance of mental well-being and remind ourselves that mental health is just as vital as physical health. This month, let’s break the stigma, support one another, and promote resources that encourage open conversations, self-care, and community connection. Whether you’re checking in on a friend, practicing mindfulness, or learning more about mental health, every small action counts.
Haddam Killingworth Youth and Family Services is committed to supporting youth, families, and the community.
if you or someone you know needs help accessing resources, please contact us at 860-345-7498 or visit our website.

National Prevention Week is a time to highlight the importance of substance use prevention and mental health promotion in our communities. Our youth coalitions, Ignite and Spark, have been working hard to plan exciting and meaningful activities for students in school throughout the week. From interactive events to creative campaigns, these youth leaders are spreading awareness, encouraging positive choices, and showing their peers the power of prevention. Their energy and dedication are making a lasting impact!

Run AMuck Is Back!
HKYFS and the HKIMS PTO are thrilled to bring back one of our community’s favorite events—Kids Run Amuck! This exciting, kids mud run is all about promoting physical activity in the most entertaining way possible. Kids can choose between a shorter or longer course, and will be sent out in waves by age group to ensure a safe and fun experience for all.
Registration opens at 12:00 PM
First waves start at 1:00 PM, beginning with our youngest runners.
While you wait, enjoy music, lawn games, a photo booth, and snacks, and cheer on our awesome racers as they run, climb, crawl, and splash their way through the course. Plus every child will receive a medal at the finish line!
Special thanks to the Middletown Rotary for their sponsorship and the Killingworth Women’s Organization, Mike’s Auto, New Image Auto, Town & Country Nurseries and Haddam & Killingworth Girl Scouts for their partnership!
Please note: YOUR KIDS WILL GET WET AND DIRTY!
We highly recommend wearing clothes and shoes that can get messy, and bringing a change of clothes and towels to help keep your car clean for the ride home. There will be a rinse-off area available before heading out.
Event will happen rain or shine!
