The Haddam Killingworth Early Childhood Council
Working to Meet the Needs of Families and Children
Ages Birth to Five

Mission
The Haddam Killingworth Early Childhood Council is committed to supporting the growth and development of children in their early years to ensure that all children will be well prepared and ready for kindergarten. We believe that parents are their children's first and most important teachers. The Early Childhood Council provides resources, activities and experiences that can help parents and their young children enjoy learning together.

Who we are
The HK Early Childhood Council is comprised of dedicated community members including parents, early care providers, educators, and social service and health care providers. The Council meets monthly to develop and plan programs to help promote the healthy physical, cognitive and social-emotional growth of young children.

Meet the Coordinator
Cynthia Cappetta has a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Southern Connecticut State University. She taught second grade in the North Haven Public Schools. She was the editor of Weekly Reader©, Edition Pre-K and has published 3 books for young children. She worked with infants, toddlers and their parents as the facilitator of the Even Start Family Literacy Program at Middletown Adult Education.

Recent Events

The Early Childhood Council of H-K Youth and Family Services invited toddlers from local daycares and residents from The Hearth to share books together at Lavender Pond Farm in Killingworth.

There was a chill in the air, but we were all warmed By the smiles on the faces of these new friends and book buddies.

Thank you to Denise and Chris Salafia for welcoming the book buddies to your beautiful farm!
